RHS Resource Officer Recognized by Police Advisory Board

Officer Tom Goepfert of the Redmond Police Department has received the 2011 "Excellence in Policing" award from the Redmond Community Policing Advisory Board.

Officer Tom Goepfert has been recognized as the 2011 recipient of the Lt. John Miner “Excellence in Policing” Award, bestowed annually by the Redmond Community Policing Advisory Board.

Geopfert, the school resource officer at , received the award in a ceremony at the police station on Thursday.

The John Miner Award is presented each year to Redmond police officers or lieutenants who have distinguished themselves by displaying excellence in policing during the preceding year. The award is named after the late Lt. John Miner, a longtime member of the department and a role model for many Redmond officers.

Lt. Tim Gately nominated Goepfert for the award, noting, “Tom works tirelessly at the high school on a daily basis. He constantly walks a delicate line acting as a teacher, counselor and law enforcement officer to the hundreds of students he contacts each day. Tom’s daily duties are vast and always directly related to providing excellence in public safety while remaining connected to our community.”
