Sky Metalwala: Vigil Sunday to Mark Six Months of Searching for Missing Boy

Sunday marks six months since the toddler was last seen.

Supporters are planning a gathering at  in Kirkland on Sunday to mark six months since 2-year-old toddler Sky Metalwala was last seen.

Sunday evening, May 6, 2012, we are back again for Sky, to renew our commitment to him and to Solomon. We will gather for “A Night for Sky” at Heritage Park in Kirkland from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This time will include worship, with prayer, a sharing of scriptures, and some ideas on how each of us can help to revitalize the Search for Sky.

Among the people organizing "A Night for Sky" is Sky's father, Solomon Metalwala of Kirkland, who has kept the search for his son going since he was reported missing Nov. 6, 2011 by his mother, Julia Biryukova.

Biryukova, who is divorced from Solomon Metalwala, reported their son went missing from her car when she ran out of gas and left him behind in the car to get help. In the following days, Bellevue Police said they could not corroborate her story of her car breaking down.

Biryukova, who lived in Redmond with her two children at the time of Sky's disappearance, has not been named a suspect by police.

Meanwhile, Solomon Metalwala and his attorney, Clay Terry, have in search of information that would lead to finding Sky.

Terry has said that the fliers and media attention have worked—and witnesses have come forward to narrow down the last time anyone other than Biryukova reported seeing the boy.

But Terry said that Biryukova's family, including her brother, whose car she borrowed on the day she reported Sky missing, have been estranged from Metalwala and his family and have not offered to help at all.

Metalwala has been caring for his daughter, Maile, now 5 years-old, full time since .
