Skydiver Missing Near North Bend

The man jumped from about 2,000 feet but didn't show up at the landing site.

A skydiver remains missing after he jumped from about 2,000 feet Thursday near Mt. Si and didn't show up at the landing site.

King County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West said via Twitter that search and rescue teams were on the way at about 3 p.m.

The man, one of three who had chartered a helicopter for the jump, was wearing brown and green clothing, which made the search more difficult, especially as it grew dark, KOMO News reported.

Approximately 75 members of the Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit were involved in searching for the missing man Thursday. The missing man is 29 years old and lives in Florida. Information about the pilot, helicopter or skydivers has not been released.

The helicopter pilot didn't know if the man's parachute opened, according to The Associated Press.

The King County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit suspended the search for the missing man until Friday morning.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
