Weekend Police Blotter: Store Employee Dragged by Shoplifters' Getaway Vehicle

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.

An employee of the downtown Redmond  store was dragged 5 to 10 feet by a car as he tried to stop two teenage shoplifters from fleeing on Saturday evening.

Redmond Police spokesman Jim Bove said the employee did not suffer any major injuries in the incident, which occurred at about 5:30 p.m. The two male suspects stole a remote control vehicle valued at $300, he said.

They fled in a silver Volkswagen Golf GTI that was already running and occupied by two other teenage males. The employee ran after the suspects, opened the driver's side door, and tried to grab the keys out of the ignition, Bove said. He let go after he was drug for a short distance.
