Weekend Police Blotter: Cab Driver Threatened with Knife

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.

Redmond Police are working to identify a suspect they say threatened a cab driver early Sunday morning after refusing to pay the requested fare.

Department spokesman Jim Bove said the cab driver took a man in his late 20s or early 30s from Palmer's East in downtown Redmond to a Jack in the Box and then dropped him off just before 3 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of West Lake Sammamish Parkway.

When the taxi driver asked for the $17 fare, the suspect gave him $6 and displayed a knife, “saying you better take this and leave,” according to Bove. The driver repeated that the fare was $17, and the man ran off toward the apartment complex.
