Weekend Police Blotter: Shots Fired in Grass Lawn for Second Time in Two Days

The following incidents were reported between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.

Grass Lawn residents reported hearing shots fired for the second time in two days this Saturday, and investigators are working to determine whether the two incidents are related.

The second report came in just before 8 p.m. in the 13700 block of NE 71st Place. Jim Bove, a spokesman for the , said officers found six casings in the street but were unable to locate the weapon or the person who fired it. None of the bullets appeared to have hit anything, he said.

“Once we got there, there wasn’t anything there other than the shell casings,” he said.

The incident happened just two days after police responded to a similar report of shots fired in the 14700 block of NE 76th St. and found seven casings. Bove said both sets of casings were fired from a .40 calliber weapon and that the casings have been sent to the Washington Crime Lab for analysis.

Police are asking residents to continue reporting any similar activity to 911.

8:32 p.m., 9500 block of 168th Ave. NE: A Redmond resident believes someone may have entered her home while she was at work.

9:03 p.m., 16000 block of Redmond Way: Redmond Police investigated a theft of fuel at a local gas station. The suspect left their Washington identification at the counter.

Saturday, Feb. 25

3:11 a.m., 7000 block of 180th Ave. NE: Victim of an auto theft reported unknown suspect(s) stole his vehicle while he was at home. 

4:51 a.m., 18600 block of NE 56th Court: Police responded to a report of a residential burglary.

10:16 a.m., 17900 block of Redmond Way: Redmond Police responded to a shoplifting in-progress at a local grocery store.

10:41 a.m., 16000 block of NE 85th St.: A Kirkland resident reported a theft of a computer monitor from his storage unit.

1:48 p.m., 18600 block of NE 55th Way: A Redmond resident reported that her GPS was taken from a vehicle parked in her garage.

2:35 p.m., 11700 block of 167th Place NE: Redmond Police investigated a report of theft at a local residence.

4:02 p.m., 6600 block of 137th Place NE: A Redmond resident attempted to sell an item via Craigslist. After a potential buyer was notified the item had already been sold, the seller's vehicle ended up being keyed, causing damage to the paint.

6:10 p.m., 10600 block of 176th Court NE: Redmond Police investigated a report of possible mail theft in a local neighborhood.

7:53 p.m., 13700 block of NE 71st Place: Redmond Police responded to shots fired and located multiple casings in the roadway. The casings were collected and sent to the crime lab for examination.

8:15 p.m., 7500 block of 166th Ave. NE: Redmond Police investigated the theft of a purse from a local business. Credit Cards from the purse were later used at a local grocery store. 

Sunday, Feb. 26

1:55 a.m., Cleveland Street and Leary Way: A 41-year-old Redmond man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

12:42 p.m., 18600 block of NE 55th St.: Police responded to a report of malicious mischief/vandalism.

1:15 p.m., 8100 block of 161st Ave. NE: Redmond Police investigated an vehicle theft report. An unknown suspect(s) stole a rental vehicle from the front of an apartment complex.

7:04 p.m., 14200 block of NE 66th St.: Redmond Police investigated a case of possible telephone harassment.

11:02 p.m., Cleveland Street and 160th Avenue NE: A 39-year-old Redmond man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Monday, Feb. 27

1:37 a.m., 8800 block of 161st Ave. NE: A lone male suspect took a can of beer from a Redmond grocery store.
