Weekend Police Blotter: March 25 to 27

Police responding to domestic violence call discover marijuana grow operation.

Officers responding to a domestic violence call Sunday night discovered a medical marijuana grow operation that police believe is in excess of the residents' growing authority, Redmond Police spokesman Jim Bove said Monday morning.

At 8:53 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 14000 block of NE 85th Court and discovered 87 marijuana plants in varying stages of development, Bove said. The residents told police they were permitted to provide medical marijuana for themselves and two other patients, but they only had the paperwork to be providers for one other patient, Bove said.

Despite the paperwork dispute, Bove said the total number of plants discovered by police still exceeded the 60 plants that the residents would be allowed to grow if they were providing for two other patients.

“So they were still above what they were allowed to have,” he said.

The case has been forwarded to the King County Prosecutor for review, Bove said.
