Ballots for Aug. 16 Primary On Their Way to King County Voters

Ballots must be postmarked by on election day, Aug. 16, at the latest or returned to one of 11 drop boxes in King County.

King County Elections mailed out ballots Wednesday to registered voters for the Aug. 16 primary.

The ballot features measures as well as contested offices where there are three or more candidates.

The top two vote-getters in each race move on to the general election.

The only candidate race on the primary ballot for Redmond residents is King County Council position No. 6, currently held by Jane Hague and challenged by Patsy Bonincontri, Richard E. Mitchell and John Creighton. The county council district includes portions of Redmond.

The county-wide $13.3 million Veterans and Human Services Levy is the only measure on the ballot for Redmond residents. The average homeowner would pay $15 more a year in property tax to assist veterans and human services programs.

Voters can return their completed ballots as soon as they receive them in the mail. The deadline to postmark or drop off your ballot is Election Day.

There are 11 drop boxes in King County, available starting July 28, including one at Lake Forest Park City Hall. The deadline to use a drop box is 8 p.m. on Election Day, Aug. 16.Β 

Return your ballot as early as possible for it to be included in results reported on Election Night, and to allow more time for Elections to connect with you if there are any issues verifying your signature.

  • Track point one: Your ballot packet was assembled and mailed to you.
  • Track point two: King County received your completed ballot.
  • Track point three: Your signature was verified and your ballot proceeded through the counting process.
