Grass Lawn Park Named Best Playground by ParentMap Magazine

SecondStory Repertory and The Bar Method also earned mentions in the Seattle publication's 2011 "Golden Teddy Awards."

Redmond's has the best playground in the Puget Sound region, according to the results from a recent reader poll in Seattle-based ParentMap Magazine.

Mayor John Marchione presented one of the magazine's "2011 Golden Teddy Awards" to Redmond Parks Director Craig Larsen at Tuesday's Redmond City Council meeting.

In receiving the award, Larsen thanked deputy parks director Greg Byszeski, who he said has a vast knowledge of Grass Lawn and played a key role in bringing new amenities to the park.

“He took that knowledge and really helped us create what I think is the best park in the (city’s) park system,” Larsen said.

ParentMap readers praised Grass Lawn's water fountains, climbing structures and giant blue slide, the magazine said.
