Habib Defeats Myers in 48th Legislative District

The first round of results was issued by King County Elections shortly after 8 p.m.

Democrat Cyrus Habib is leading Republican Hank Myers 61 percent to 39 percent in the second round of ballot results released by King County Elections on Wednesday evening.

Habib, a Kirkland attorney, and Myers, a Redmond City Council member and transportation economist, are vying for seat 2 in the 48th Legislative District, which covers portions of Redmond, Kirkland and Bellevue.

Myers' top campaign platforms included education funding and economic growth. Habib also called for education funding reform and completion of Eastside transportation projects.

Meanwhile, incumbent State Rep. Ross Hunter (D) of Medina is leading Republican challenger Bill Hirt of Bellevue by 68 percent to 32 percent.
