Watch for nighttime I-405 closures in Kirkland, Bothell this Saturday, Feb. 9

Night owls, be alert: Starting at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, the Washington State Department of Transportation will close lanes on I-405 as part of the Bellevue to Lynnwood Express Toll Lanes Project. Crews will close up to three lanes of northbound I-405 between NE 85th Street and NE 160th Street.

Crews will also close the on-ramps to northbound I-405 at NE 128th Street and NE 160th Street, and the northbound I-405 off-ramps at NE 160th Street and SR 522. All ramps and lanes will reopen by 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10. For a detailed listing and updates, visit the WaDOT construction updates page. The work is needed to make room for a new temporary on-ramp at NE 160th Street.

Tree removal starts in Totem Lake area for construction of new I-405 lanes

Beginning next week, drivers traveling on I-405 north of Kirkland will notice crews removing trees in the I-405 median near NE 128th Street. Removing the trees allows crews to build an additional lane in each direction of I-405 to make room for the dual express toll lane system between Bellevue and Bothell.

The trees within the project area will be recycled and new trees and shrubs will be planted where possible before the project is complete.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
