On the Agenda: Traffic Cameras Up for Discussion at Today's Public Safety Committee Meeting

Committee chair Hank Myers said the meeting will include a review of traffic statistics in relation to the camera pilot program.

Red-light and school zone cameras are on the agenda for today's meeting of the Redmond City Council Public Safety Committee.

The city's has been in place for nearly four months and is the subject of controversy among some Redmond residents who believe the cameras infringe on privacy and are being used purely to raise government revenue. Redmond resident Scott Harlan is to put the camera program on the November ballot and let voters decide its fate.

City Councilman Hank Myers is chair of the Public Safety Committee and said the group plans to conduct a review and discussion every two months regarding the camera program's progress and effect on traffic safety.
