Teen Contest: Redmond's Got Talent Submissions Wanted

The Old Fire House Teen Center is hosting a teen talent contest where local teens compete for prizes and the honor of being Redmond’s best.

The Old Fire House Teen Center is hosting a teen talent contest where local teens compete for prizes and the honor of being Redmond’s best.

All talents will be considered, from bucket drumming, breakdancing, violin concertos, baton twirling, comedy and magic routines, vocalists, dramatic monologues, and singer songwriters. The submission of entries is online at www.youtube.com/oldfirehousergt and to get the rules and application go to www.redmond.gov/teenevents. The deadline for submission is Friday, March 1 by 5 p.m.

Mailed submissions also must be received by the March 1 deadline.

Submissions will be juried by judges, and those chosen to advance will perform a live, 5 minute set at the Old Fire House Teen Center on March 8-9. A panel of three local celebrity judges will rate each act on originality, poise, creativity, overall impression and talent. The top eight winners from the preliminary competition will receive the opportunity to advance to the final competition on March 22.

Participants have a chance to win a share of more than $400 in prizes and a chance to perform on Redmond’s biggest stage for Derby Days! Winners will be announced at the end of the show on March 22. For more information email ofh@redmond.gov.

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
