The road will reopen at 7 a.m. Saturday.

Editor’s note: The following information is from King County Road Services.

Redmond-area drivers who travel Northeast Novelty Hill Road should plan ahead for a lengthy overnight detour Friday, July 19. Crews will close the road to through-traffic at 9 p.m. and reopen the road to traffic Saturday at 7 a.m.

This closure is necessary to install girders for the Novelty Hill Safety Enhancement Project.

Traffic will be routed via a posted detour on Avondale Road Northeast, Northeast 133rd Street and Trilogy Parkway Northeast.

This federally funded project is designed to reduce the number of traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities caused when drivers collide with animals by providing wildlife a safer way to cross this busy road. The federal government is fully funding King County for the project and is not making the money available for any other purpose.
