What's Open, Closed for Presidents Day in Redmond

Schools are out, and government offices are closed Monday.

Presidents Day, celebrated the third Monday of February, has developed over time to honor both President George Washington (birthday Feb. 22) and Abraham Lincoln (birthday Feb. 16) in particular, and our country's presidents throughout history in general.

Considered a traditional bank holiday, you will nevertheless find many banks and most retail open for business.

Here's what will be open, closed or running on a normal schedule:

City of Redmond: closed.

King County Library District: closed.

Lake Washington School District: closed. Classes resume Tuesday, Feb. 19.

King County government: closed.

King County Metro Transit: Most buses on normal schedule. 

King County Transfer Stations: open.

State offices: closed. The Employment Security Department and all WorkSource employment centers will be closed, but you can apply for unemployment benefits online and file a weekly claim online or by phone.

Washington State Ferries: All routes on normal weekday schedule.

Federal government: closed.

Postal service: No delivery.

Waste Management: regular schedule.
