Where do people live the longest?

Today's average human lifespan is 78 years. Of the 222 countries in the world, inhabitants live the longest in Monaco at 89 years. Where people live the longest are called "Blue Zones". They include, Sardinia, the Greek isle of ??, Okinawa and ??. In Okinawa people are said to live longer because they stop eating when 80% full, never feel alone (lonely) and always have a purpose to their life, especially including gardening.

Your genetics influence 25% of how long you live.

  • As a group people who have index fingers that's shorter than their ring finger, experience higher rates of prostate cancer than those that don't.
  • Right-handed people live longer than left-handed people.

How you live influences 75% of how long you live.

  • Smilers and laughers live longer.
  • Bikers live longer than bus or car riders
  • Conscientiousness people live longer than distracted people.
  • Risk evaluators live longer than risk avoiders.
  • Gum flossing from childhood can give you 6.4 years more to your life than non-flossers.
  • In America, the most likely year for you to die is during the first year after retirement.
  • 25% of drinkers can get aggressive. Putting yourself at risk by being with risky people or in risky places statistically will shortened your life.
  • The new "medical term" "sitting disease" refers to the knowledge that chair sitting kills people. Those that daily sit 6 hours at their job are 40% more likely to die prematurely if a woman and 20% more if a man. Periodically get up and move and/or set up your desk so you can periodically stand at it to work.
  • Walkers live longer than runners.
  • Moderate alcohol drinkers live longer.
  • Non-smokers live 10 years longer than smokers.
  • People who can hold their breath longer than 55 seconds live longer. Practice different forms of breathing to exercise your lungs, muscles, breathing.
  • Elderly people with a strong grip strength live longer than those with a weak grip. Tip: Two easy ways to radically develop your grip strength is by folding a newspaper as many times as you can until you can't fold it anymore and by squeezing water out of a plastic ketchup bottle till you can't squeeze it anymore.

Would less or more work make you live longer?

The average person works 2000 hours a year. It seems that the reasons you work mean more, up to a point, than how long you work.

Age Related Software can offer a good way to show how the habits you have today influence the look of your face years later.

Here's a realistic free face aging program that uses your laptop to take your photo then ages it based on two variables, your current age and gender. http://faceretirement.merrilledge.com/

Here's a program that takes into account these variables - smoking, weight gain and sun exposure - to age faces of real people. http://www.ageme.com/
