Redmond Elementary Recognized for Improved Test Scores

The school was one of three in the Lake Washington School District to be named a "School of Distinction" by a statewide educational organization.

was one of three schools in the to be named a 2011 School of Distinction by the Center for Educational Effectiveness, a statewide educational outreach organization.

According to a news release from LWSD, Redmond Elementary was selected for the recognition because of its improvement in math and reading scores on the state assessment exams between 2006 and 2011. The top five percent of improving schools in the state who also had 2011 scores at or above the state average received the honor.

Redmond Elementary has worked to raise test scores while serving a significant number of students who are learning English as a second language and students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, the release stated.

The other LWSD schools that received the award were Smith Elementary and Renaissance School, both of which are located in Sammamish.
