Three RHS students were among those who received $1,000 scholarships.

Three students are among the winners of this year's Lake Washington PTSA Council Scholarships, the (LWSD) announced earlier this week.

One scholarship was awarded to the top candidate at each of the six LWSD high schools, along with two at-large scholarships selected from all of the remaining applicants. The Dr. L.E. Scarr Scholarship was awarded to a student attending a vocational/technical school or community college, the Dr. Karen Bates/LWEA Scholarship was presented to a student pursuing an education degree, and the Jay Ellis Memorial Scholarship was given to a student pursuing a degree in music education.

The winners were selected based on extracurricular and community service activities, academic excellence and motivation, explanation of future goals, character references and an essay response. Each scholarship is worth $1,000.
