Two More LWSD Coaches Put on Leave

The Lake Washington School District has confirmed that the Juanita boys baseball coach and Lake Washington softball coach have been put on leave, for undisclosed reasons.

Two more Kirkland high school coaches have been put on leave in the middle of the season by the Lake Washington School District, Kathryn Reith, district spokeswoman, confirmed Thursday.

They are Sherman Leach, coach of the boys baseball team, and Troy Hennum, coach of the softball team.

Reith would say only that the two coaches are on leave and declined to explain why. The leaves do not mean they have been accused or are suspected of any wrongdoing, she said. For example, they could be medical or bereavement leaves.

“I can confirm that they are on leave,” she said. “That is all I can say.”

Contacted by email, Leach said he had little to say because the school district has not informed him why he was put on leave. He did say that he believes Troy Garcia has been named acting head coach for Juanita baseball.
