Overlake Lacrosse Heads to State Title Game

The Owls will take on Bellevue East on Saturday in Sammamish.

Grace Grubb scored seven goals as Overlake lacrosse powered into the girls' Division II state championship game with a 19–15 state semifinal playoff win over Garfield on Wednesday at the in Redmond.

The win propels the Owls into the state title game with Bellevue East, which stunned previously undefeated Klahowya with a 17–16 triple-overtime win in its semifinal.

Other Owls to score in the semifinal match included Kerri Smith with four goals and three assists, Sarah Silverman and Zoe Pinczower each with three goals, and Katie Hill and Mariel Frank each with a goal and two assists. Emma Howeard and Quinn Phillips combined for nine saves in goal.

On the way to the state championship, Overlake finished the season winning its last seven games of the season including a 14–12 decision over Wenatchee on May 3 and a 15–2 defeat of Mercer Island on May 6. In a 19–3 quarter final win over Kennedy, Silverman notched five goals to lead the way.

Saturday’s Division II state championship game with Bellevue East gets underway at 11 a.m. at Charlie Acosta Field on the campus of the Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish.
