City Parks and Rec Department Offers New 'Safety Town' Day Camp

The week-long program will teach young children about safety awareness.

The City of Redmond's Parks and Recreation Department will offer a new safety-themed day camp for children between the ages of 4 and 6 this summer.

"Safety Town" will teach young children safety skills for a variety of settings, including home, school, and while walking around town or riding in a car. Kids will also learn what to do if they are approached by a stranger and the role community leaders play to help ensure their safety.

Offered in collaboration with the and based on a "play philosophy," the program will include classroom visitors, games, crafts, music, stories and more.

The camp takes place from 10 a.m. to noon weekdays at the . Sessions begin July 16 and continue through Aug. 24.
