Girls, Let Me Hear Your Roar

No matter how young, now matter how soft their voices, girls need to know that they can make a difference in this world.

"One girl with courage is a revolution."  This is the mantra of a fantastic movie called Girl Rising.  This movie details the struggles and triumphs of young girls in different countries.  At very young ages, they are fighting for their right to get an education, to refuse marriage, and more.  Their voices, although tiny, roar in the face of adversity.  To all of the young girls out there, let's hear your voice.  Rise up againsts the things that bother you in our society.  Your voice, no matter how loud or soft, can make a difference.

For inspiration, join me on March 11th, 7:30pm at Bella Bottega to watch Girl Rising.  Tickets must be reserved ahead of time at http://gathr.us/screening/1084.

I hope to hear your roar, girls!

RASP is a wonderful group of writers from all walks of Redmond life. They hold an open mic on theRead More last Friday of every month at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center. Not only do they have featured readers like Kathleen, but the open mic portion encourages anyone from the community to read their work. It's regularly quite good. All those with a hunger to get their work out in the world should attend.
