Redmond Ridge Communities Unite for Hopelink

Neighbors Helping Neighbors Drive to collect 30,000 pounds of food

Children in our neighborhood are going hungry, this summer! They need fuel to play and to grow, but that fuel is expensive and not available to many of them.

And this situation only adds to a grim reality of daily life in our state: The Children’s Alliance estimates that as many as 400,000 kids in Washington state – about 25 percent – live in “food insecure” households and don’t know where their next meal will come from on any given day.

Hopelink created the End Summer Hunger campaign to help feed these kids, and ensure they have enough to eat to fuel their many activities. The campaign brings together local businesses, organizations, schools and individuals to help provide low-income families with food for children during the summer months, when school is not in session.

To boost this effort, Redmond Ridge communities (over 4,000 families) are uniting for Hopelink in a massive “Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Drive” August 23. Leading the program will be Trilogy at Redmond Ridge, a 55 and over, active lifestyle community, with seven other Redmond Ridge communities participating as well: Reunion at Redmond Ridge, The Lodge, Redmond Ridge East, Redmond Ridge HOA, Sundance Park, Sundance Glen, and Westchester. Trilogy residents and QFC at

Novelty Hill are the official sponsors of this community effort

The goal is to fill three large trucks with 30,000 pounds of food and deliver the donations to Hopelink food banks in Carnation, Redmond, and Kirkland. On Thursday, August 23, 2012, a Hopelink tent and a large truck will be parked at the QFC – Novelty Hill Road, Redmond parking lot to receive food donations from 9 am to 1 pm. Organizers also hope to raise $10,000 for a “Children’s Milk Fund”.
