I read the MI Patch, and SFGate, (as a native San Franciscan.) Sometimes the headlines disturb me.Read More It does in this case. More care needs to be taken that it reflects the reality. Our family in Boston emailed they were OK, and in talking to them the city was not in chaos. On the contrary, things were handled very well considering the horrific situation. The Patch, as well as any other publications need to take care in writing headlines. My only training in journalism was in high school, we would have received an F for this reporting. Respectively, Connie Carson

Jeanne, your response is a much more accurate description of what happened in Boston on PatriotsRead More Day. There was chaos and sheer terror at the two bomb sites. Today's morbid accounting attests to that; there were 3 fatalities from the bombings, an 8 year old boy from Dorchester (a Boston neighborhood), a 29 year old woman from Arlington, and a Boston University graduate student. To add to that, the current official count of those injured who received hospital care stands at 173 with 59 already discharged from hospitals. Two city blocks of horror and carnage does not reflect the headline assigned to this article. "The whole city was in chaos," is a very inaccurate accounting of the day's tragedy. While Bostonians are sharing the world's expressed sadness over this tragedy, the City of Boston is much larger, and yes, much stronger than this headline indicates. All injured and suffering persons deserve more respect than is reflected in this headline. Perhaps it is more of a personal response to the moment rather than an accurate description of external events.

I really appreciate you sharing your perspective, Mary Ann, and I would definitely agree that BostonRead More appears to have been as well-prepared to deal with what happened yesterday as any city could hope to be. The sheer numbers of yellow vested individuals--whether they were race volunteers or authorities--is a testament to the quick and efficient response. That does not take away from the chaos and fear that people experiencing the blasts and the immediate aftermath experienced, but I have the distinct sense that without the efforts of the city and race organizers, the tragedy would have been much larger.

I agree it was sliding into home plate winning the playoff game over the Yankees in 1995! We wereRead More in center field and could see his smile under the pile without binoculars!

Griffey had a great career despite an injury plagued final 10 years but at the same there's noRead More evidence he used performing enhancing drugs which were so common during his era. In my mind there's no question that he should be voted into the Hall of Fame before Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, etc. even though some of his career and individual season stats aren't as good.

Tyler - You can still drink Starbucks, but order a tall instead of a grande and try not to enjoy itRead More as much. That will stick it to 'em :)

Venice, My point is Steve Ballmer is investing in this team as a private investor, not on behalf ofRead More Microsoft. Trying to lump the two facets of his life together, as this politician is doing, is in my opinion, akin to lumping everything from California (I used Apple as an example) with the actions of the owners down there. It doesn't make sense, but it's exactly what Steinberg is trying to do. The only thing that prompted his questioning about the contracts was Ballmer's tie to the potential Kings deal. In either case, it's a far reach.

Brent, I have to admit that I know nothing about NBA owners, so I was wondering what the MaloofRead More family and Jerry Buss have to do with Apple? As far as lumping together Ballmer's CEO side and private investment side, people around here did the same thing with Starbucks and Howard Schultz, and they seemed to have no trouble making that connection.

Real big football fan huh Dexter? Doesn't knitting get boring?

I'll just say this. The timeout should have been irrelevant. After dominating the second half, theRead More Seahawks defense gave up a whole lot of ground in less than 20 seconds. I was shocked when I saw Matt Ryan complete those passes so easily. Monday morning quarterbacking on my part, I know, but I would have love to have seen the Seahawk coaches order those DB's to jam a little bit on the line. If you're playing nickel, there should be another DB to help if the receiver gets behind the first defender. It's a shame either way. Anyway, go Hawks!
