Kevin Johnson
A Cabrillo College Journalism graduate, Kevin has been shooting news assignments in Santa Cruz County since early 2009. His topics include breaking news, profiles, features, music, arts, and sports.
His visual journalism career began at the Cabrillo College Voice as a staff reporter and later, a staff photographer. In his second semester at The Voice Kevin became the paper’s photo editor, and in his final semester he became editor in chief. Kevin is also the owner, creator, and online editor for heavy metal news outlet metalbay.net. During the Spring of 2011 Kevin worked a 5 month internship as a photographer at the Santa Cruz Sentinel. It was during this internship where he first began shooting breaking news. Kevin has professionally photographed celebrities and rock stars on the black carpet at the Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles, politicians, fires, police arrests, and many other news assignments. He has interviewed world renowned heavy metal bands Dimmu Borgir, Nile, Hate Eternal, Animals As Leaders, Spawn Of Possession and the New Orleanes Funk and Jazz outfit Dumpstaphunk.  Kevin now covers business, breaking news, features, and photo and multimedia stories for Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley Patch. At Cabrillo College Kevin studied photography, journalism, screen writing, film, business, psychology, English and politics.
